‘Swaine, 250 years of tradition from Cambridge’
Swaine Adeney Brigg (est. 1750) produces handmade leather suitcases in characteristic colours of the highest quality.
Swaine only uses British bridle hide, which goes through a several months-long tanning process in the Swaine workshop in Cambridge. It is then finished by hand and oiled. This results in the most durable English saddle leather.
A well-known item is the traditional attaché case, characterized by its so called ‘lid over frame’ principle, where the lid closes over the bottom.
Our most unique items are the attaché cases made from 200-year old reindeer skins. These skins were found in a shipwreck called ‘the Catharina van Flensburg’, which were deprived from oxygen under the sea bottom of the North Sea and therefore sustained.
For over 15 years Rivet Leather sells these unique suitcases and briefcases and, to great customer content, maintain and repair them in our own workshop. We would be delighted to show you these unique pieces when you arrive in our shop.
