Rivet Lederwaren

Rivet Leather (Rivet Lederwaren) is a store with personal character and a unique background. Knowledge of trade and history, combined with an interest for the latest fashion, unite here.

In 1984, owner Marthe Ruijer, received her degree at Rietveld Academy, a renowned art-education situated in Amsterdam. Together with her father Gerard Ruijer, who used to work as a purchaser for Dutch Court Supplier ‘Verweegen & Kok’ (in the Kalverstraat) in Amsterdam, she established ‘Rivet Leather’. The basis is formed by a collection of historical bags and suitcases which were carefully accumulated throughout the years.

The items were often used in films and many commercials. When needed, they were restored in Rivet’s own workshop. Also, new designs were made, sometimes on order.

In 1990 Rivet’s leather selection shifts to import from abroad, mainly from Italy, France and England. The selection varies from handmade traditional English suitcases to modernly designed Italian luggage.

Using our own views and experience, a selection is made from the collections of our manufacturers. Thanks to the small scale of our shop it is possible to offer personal service and advice. When repairs need to be made, it is usually done in our own workshop.

Rivet Leather is situated in the Van Baerlestraat 97 in Amsterdam, close to the Concert building and Museum Square (parking). A neighbourhood where shopping becomes a pleasant experience offering many specialized shops, museums, and restaurants .
